Blocked drains, cleared

A drain backing up at the gully trap, a slow shower that’s gurgling, or a sewer smell outside are all signs of a blockage. We clear them and tell you what caused it: usually roots, grease or something that shouldn’t have gone down. If a drain blocks repeatedly, that’s a sign of damage, and we’ll be honest that a CCTV camera is the right next step before anyone digs.

New drains and relocated houses

Laying drains is where a certifying drainlayer’s licence counts. We dig and lay new sewer and stormwater drains for extensions, new bathrooms and relocated houses, to the falls the code requires, with the council inspections booked and the as-laid plans drawn up at the end. Relocatable houses are a speciality: a house arrives on a truck with no services, and we connect it to the council drains or a new septic system from scratch, alongside the water and gas.

What happens when you get in touch

The same four steps on every job, so you know what's coming.

  1. 1

    You get in touch

Call, or send the quote form with a few photos. We take the details and book a time to look at the job, or quote from the photos if they show enough.

  2. 2

Written quote, usually the same day

We send the quote the day you ask. For common jobs the pricing is ready, and we tell you if a repair will do instead of a replacement.

  3. 3

    The job

Non-urgent jobs are usually done within a week. Water or gas is off for the minimum time, and you do not need to be home if we can get access.

  4. 4

    Paperwork and tidy up

Gas work comes with a gas safety certificate, and consented work with the PS3, pressure test and as-laid drainage plans the council needs. Then we clean up and invoice.

Drainage: your questions

Do you have a drain camera?

No. We clear blockages and dig and lay drains, but we don't do CCTV inspections. If a drain keeps blocking and needs a camera to find the cause, we'll tell you and point you to someone who does that.

What's involved in connecting a relocated house?

New sewer and stormwater drains from the house to the council connection or septic system, laid to the required falls, inspected by the council, and recorded on an as-laid plan. We handle the consent paperwork and book the inspections.

Can you install a septic tank?

Yes. We've installed septic systems around Hamilton and Ngaruawahia, including the tank, the drainage to it and the connection to the disposal field.

My gully trap overflows when it rains.

That's usually stormwater getting into the sewer, or a partial blockage downstream. We'll find which and sort it.

Do new drains need a consent?

New sewer and stormwater drainage usually does. Our drainage is signed off by a certifying drainlayer: we prepare what the council needs, book the inspections and give you the as-laid drawings at the end.
